Coaching & Volunteer Opportunities

As we look forward to an exciting new season of hockey this fall, the VYHA Board of Directors will begin to accept applications for coaching positions immediately. If you are interested in coaching in the Valley Youth Hockey Association next season please complete the above VYHA Application to Coach.

It is the intention of the Board to use responses to this application to fill necessary coaching roles in both the house and travel programs, the roles include:

Travel Head and Assistant Coaches – The positions will be selected for each level of travel hockey (Squirts to Midgets). Head Coaches are, by definition, committing to full participation in EJEPL and CHL travel hockey leagues this season, if available, at a particular age level.  Head travel coaches will also serve as Age Level Coordinators for VYHA’s house league program appropriate for their players.  Coaching Committee will assign Head Coaches  / Age Group Coordinators. Head Coaches will select assistant coaches from the applicant pool.

House League Coaches – Age Level Coordinators will consult with the Player Coach Committee to select House League Coaches at each level of our House League.  These coaches – drawn from this applicant pool - will be selected prior to the start of the House League season based on enrollment in various House League programs. Non-skating Bench Coaches are required to complete all coaching requirements.

Learn to Play Coaches – Learn to Play coaches work with our participants in our Learn To Play program. Coaches are expected to attend LTP sessions that are held on Saturday mornings at the Lancerlot Sports Complex. Click here to contact Misty Amos, LTP Director, for more details about our LTP program.

In addition, the link also provides a list of the necessary requirements that must be completed in order to coach at any level.

As you apply for a coaching position, please consider the commitment you are making to the program and to our players.  Valley Youth Hockey Association expects our coaches to provide a committed, cooperative, and positive learning environment for our players.  Coaches have a unique opportunity to help shape the lives of our young people in a positive fashion.

The VYHA Board looks forward to our members growing in the game of hockey.  We thank you for your interest in Valley Youth Hockey Association and in its participants.
